The WMS Close-Focus Lens Kit makes it possible to take sharp shots at very close distances with the wildlife camera. The lens kit consists of 4 different close-focus lenses with a diopter of +1, +2, +4, and +10. So with the Close-focus lens kit, you can reduce the focus distance, but with that you automatically drastically reduce the sharpness range as well. So the sharpness range then becomes very small, and so this works especially well when you know exactly where the animal is going to be captured in the image. For example, at water or feeding tables with garden birds, or with small marten on a lure. The stronger the Close-focus lens, the smaller the focus range will become. So keep this in mind! The WMS Close-Focus lens kit works perfectly with the Wilsus Juxta wildlife camera, which is actually what the kit was put together for. But it also works fine with most Browning wildlife cameras and with many other wildlife cameras. Generally it works better with standard lens models than with wide-angle models, because with the latter you run the risk of continuing to see the edges of the close-focus lens in the image.

The WMS Close-Focus Lens Kit makes it possible to take sharp shots at very close distances with the wildlife camera. The lens kit consists of 4 different close-focus lenses with diopters of +1, +2, +4, and +10. With most standard lens wildlife cameras (with angle of view approximately between 40 and 60 degrees), the focus distance can be calculated as 1 divided by the diopter of the front lens. So if you take a close-focus lens with diopter +4, the focusing distance will come out to about 1 / 4 = 0.25 meters. If you take the lens with diopter +10, then you will end up with 1 / 10 = 0.1 meters of focusing distance.

Wide-angle lens wildlife cameras are inherently sharper at shorter distances than standard lens wildlife cameras. A standard lens wildlife camera is usually sharp from about 1.5 meters to infinity. So with the Close-focus lens kit, you can reduce the focusing distance, but in doing so, you automatically drastically reduce the focusing range as well. This means that a +4 lens will do very well to get images sharp around 25 cm distance from the camera, but the image will soon be out of focus at distances greater than 40 cm. So that sharpness range then becomes very small, and so this works especially well if you know exactly where the animal is going to be captured in the image. For example, at water or feeding tables with garden birds, or with small marten on a lure. The stronger the Close-focus lens, the smaller the focus range will become. So keep this in mind!

The WMS Close-Focus Lens Kit also comes with a screw adapter for the close-focus lenses. The idea is that you mount the adapter on the camera, around the camera lens, so that you can then easily and quickly mount the various close-focus lenses on the camera and easily remove them again as well. Mounting the adapter can be done with glue, or for example with Poster Paste Gum or Putty. Usually this sticks very well. If the shape of the camera does not lend itself to using the adapter, you can also simply mount the close focus lenses directly in front of the camera lens with poster adhesive or putty. It is best to make a ring around the camera lens with this material, and to push the close-focus lens (or the adapter) in it, so that you get a nice waterproof and spider-proof seal.

The WMS Close-Focus lens kit works perfectly with the Wilsus Juxta game camera, which is actually what the kit was put together for. But it also works fine with most Browning game cameras and with many other game cameras. Generally it works better with standard lens models than with wide-angle models, because with the latter you risk continuing to see the edges of the close-focus lens in focus. The lens diameter is 37 mm.
