PLEASE NOTE: this is the successor to the popular Scoutguard SG560K

The Scoutguard SG2060-K is a cameratrap produced by Boly Media Inc. The original SG560K cameramodel was already introduced in 2012, and since then the model has been renewed and improved every 1 to 2 years. Since 2020, this model has been renamed as the Scoutguard SG2060-K. In fact, this is almost the same model as the SG560K, but with slightly better specifications. That makes the Scoutguard SG2060-K still a very interesting cameratrap, for a very competitive price. During a cameratrap test - conducted by Jan Meijerink of the Twentse Birdgroup, in June 2014 (see test) - the SG560K came out as one of the best cameratraps in the test. This was quite surprising, because the test included well-known (and more expensive) brands, such as Bushnell and Reconyx, which under some circumstances performed as well or even less well!

    Scoutguard SG2060-K

The Scoutguard SG2060-K is a cameratrap produced by Boly Media Inc. This cameratrap is also sometimes referred to as the Bolyguard SG2060-K. Scoutguard SG2060-K | Main features

One of the most important features of the Scoutguard SG2060-K is the low-glow infrared flash. This ensures little disturbance to the animals and a reduced chance of theft or vandalism, since the flash of the cameratrap does not catch the human eye. The Scoutguard SG2060-K is one of the cheapest models with an invisible flash in our entire collection. But the invisible flash is not the only thing that stands out. This camera trap has a 14MP CMOS image sensor, which is interpolated to a maximum photo resolution of 36 megapixels. In itself, the 36MP photo resolution is not necessarily spectacular, but many of the other brands in this price range firstly do not achieve a photo resolution of 36MP, but often they also use a 5MP CMOS sensor, and this is where image quality really comes into play. Interpolation can in principle just as well be done afterwards in a good photo editing program on the computer, but the actual number of pixels captured when taking a picture is determined by the image sensor. In the more expensive models we see more and more 8MP sensors or sensors with even higher MP values, but in this price range that is still quite exceptional!

Furthermore, the Scoutguard SG2060-K has a stunning detection range and flash range of up to 30 meters! There are not many cameratraps that reach that far. Finally, the Scoutguard SG2060-K has a built-in 2.0 inch color viewer on which the captured photos and videos can be instantly reviewed, but which also makes setting up easy because of the large color screen.

Since the summer of 2019 we have partnered up with Silvavir ecology consultancy. They perform standardized and objective reviews of trailcameras. We started this partnership to provide more insight into the differences and similarities between the cameramodels that are available on today's market, and to offer people a helping hand in choosing the right cameratrap. Scoutguard SG2060-K | Recommended accessories

All camera traps are supplied without accessories. However, to get started with your cameratrap right away, you need at least a set of batteries and an SDHC memory card. For this model this is a standard SDHC memory card of at least Class 10, such as the Sandisk Ultra cards. Additionally, we recommend to use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (not rechargeable), or the Panasonic Eneloop and Eneloop PRO rechargeable NiMH batteries. The advantage of the lithium batteries over the rechargeable Eneloop batteries is that the former are more resistant to winter temperatures. The disadvantage however, is that they are non-rechargeable. If you choose rechargeable batteries, think of the Japcell 8-bank charger, in case you don't have a good battery charger in your house!

In addition to batteries and a memory card, there is a variety of other accessories available for this cameramodel. There are all kinds of special mounting materials such as tree forks and supports, but also accessories that ensure that the camera is placed more securely, such as a steel security enclosure or a python cable lock. You can select these accessories directly above and place your order as a bundle, but you can also view the complete overview of accessories here.
