Scoutguard SG2060-D (White flash)
The Scoutguard SG2060-D is a trail camera manufactured by Boly Media Inc. What makes the Scoutguard SG2060-D especially unique is the fact that it has a dual white flash; an LED flash and a Xenon flash. Both flashes provide beautiful color images at night. The Xenon flash is the most powerful but needs to be charged each time after use and can therefore only be used for photos. The LED flash is in fact similar to the infrared LEDs we see in most other trail cameras, but with a visible white light (like the flashes you often see on cell phones). This makes it possible to take both photos and videos, completely in color. This leads to spectacular night images! It also seems that the disturbance to the animals is not too bad. Of course, often when an individual animal is spotted, a startle response is seen, but in all cases that same individual simply continues to visit the camera location and thus no lasting disturbance seems to occur. Currently, the Scoutguard SG2060-D is one of the few options with a visible white flash, and thus with color images at night, and thus a very interesting choice for specific applications!
Scoutguard SG2060-D | Main features
One of the most important features of the Scoutguard SG2060-D is its white flash. As mentioned, this ensures that the night images are always in color. Thus, it is not possible with this model to take pictures with an infrared exposure. This does make the chance of theft or vandalism for this model higher than for a model with infrared flash of course. The Scoutguard SG2060-D is one of the few models with a white flash in our entire range. But the white flash is not the only thing that stands out. This camera trap has a 14MP CMOS image sensor, which is interpolated to a maximum photo resolution of 36 megapixels. In itself, the 36MP photo resolution is not necessarily spectacular, but many of the other brands in this price range firstly do not achieve a photo resolution of 36MP, but often they also use a 5MP CMOS sensor, and this is where image quality really comes into play. Interpolation can in principle just as well be done afterwards in a good photo editing program on the computer, but the actual number of pixels captured when taking a picture is determined by the image sensor. In the more expensive models we see more and more 8MP sensors or sensors with even higher MP values, but in this price range that is still quite exceptional! Furthermore, the Scoutguard SG2060-D also has a large detection range and flash range of up to 25 meters! In practice, it must be said that we believe that you should never count on a perfectly exposed night scene at distances greater than 15 meters from the camera. This is only possible if the conditions are perfect (full moon, clear sky, and therefore lots of night light). Finally, the Scoutguard SG2060-D has a built-in 2.0 inch color viewer on which the captured photos and videos can be instantly reviewed, but which also makes setting up easy because of the large color screen.

Scoutguard SG2060-D | Recommended accessories
All camera traps are supplied without accessories. However, to get started with your cameratrap right away, you need at least a set of batteries and an SDHC memory card. For this model this is a standard SDHC memory card of at least Class 10, such as the Sandisk Ultra cards. Additionally, we recommend to use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (not rechargeable), or the Panasonic Eneloop and Eneloop PRO rechargeable NiMH batteries. The advantage of the lithium batteries over the rechargeable Eneloop batteries is that the former are more resistant to winter temperatures. The disadvantage however, is that they are non-rechargeable. If you choose rechargeable batteries, think of the Japcell 8-bank charger, in case you don't have a good battery charger in your house!
In addition to batteries and a memory card, there is a variety of other accessories available for this cameramodel. There are all kinds of special mounting materials such as tree forks and supports, but also accessories that ensure that the camera is placed more securely, such as a steel security enclosure or a python cable lock. You can select these accessories directly above and place your order as a bundle, but you can also view the complete overview of accessories here.
