This model is no longer available. A good alternative to the Reconyx UltraFire XR6 is the Reconyx HF2X HyperFire 2 OUTDOOR.

The Reconyx UltraFire XR6 is a camera trap with a complete invisible IR flash. This ensures minimal disturbance by both animals and humans and thus the risk of theft or vandalism. This also means that the night images are gray tinted (monochrome). Both the day and night images are clear, offer good contrast and lack the 'white noise' that you often encounter in other trail cameras. This can be partially explained by the two built-in lenses, one optimized for daytime images and one for nighttime images. If you are looking for a camera with sublime video quality, this is a very good choice! Additional specifications of the Reconyx UltraFire XR6 are:
- Detection range of 20 meter / Flash range of 15 meter
- 8MP photo resolution / 1080p HD video resolution
- Time-lapse and hybrid functionality

Reconyx UltraFire XR6 | Appearance

The Reconyx UltraFire XR6 features a very sturdy and dark-gray housing. Unique to the UltraFire models, are the two built-in lenses, one for day and one for night. This makes the trail camera truly silent, as there is no longer a need for a mechanical filter that slides in front of the lens when the invisible infrared flash is on. As with all other Reconyx models, there is a locking clip on the right side, where the AA batteries and settings are inserted. The 2.4-inch built-in color viewer allows you to observe images directly in the field. This makes the set-up of the trail camera very easy! When using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, the wildlife camera can last up to 12 months!

Reconyx UltraFire XR6 | Alternatives

If you are looking for the ultimate camera trap for videos, then this is definitely one of the favorites! However, the response and recovery times are a bit on the slow side. With the Reconyx HyperFire 2 models, including the HF2X, HS2X and HP2X, it is possible to shoot photos and videos, but with a lightning-fast response time of no less than 0.2s!

Reconyx UltraFire XR6 | Recommended accessories

All camera traps are supplied without accessories. However, to get started with your cameratrap right away, you need at least a set of batteries and an SDHC memory card. For this model this is a standard SDHC memory card of at least Class 10, such as the Sandisk Ultra cards. Additionally, we recommend to use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (not rechargeable), or the Panasonic Eneloop and Eneloop PRO rechargeable NiMH batteries. The advantage of the lithium batteries over the rechargeable Eneloop batteries is that the former are more resistant to winter temperatures. The disadvantage however, is that they are non-rechargeable. If you choose rechargeable batteries, think of the Japcell 8-bank charger, in case you don't have a good battery charger in your house!

In addition to batteries and a memory card, there is a variety of other accessories available for this cameramodel. There are all kinds of special mounting materials such as tree forks and supports, but also accessories that ensure that the camera is placed more securely, such as a steel security enclosure or a python cable lock. You can select these accessories directly above and place your order as a bundle, but you can also view the complete overview of accessories here.
