Reconyx HS2X HyperFire 2 (Security camera)
The Reconyx HS2X ('S' stands for 'security') is the security model of the HyperFire 2 series, introduced in 2018. The HS2X is a more advanced and extended version of the Reconyx HF2X (outdoor) model; very suitable for security applications. The camera can be set to automatically switch on and off at specific days and times. The HS2X looks a lot like the Reconyx UltraFire XS8, but has a faster trigger and recovery time for both photo and video! One important difference between the HyperFire 2 models is that both the Reconyx HS2X and the HP2X are equipped with the same - and excellent working - motion sensor as the Reconyx HyperFire 1 models (e.g. HC600, PC900 and SC950), which makes it possible to compare obtained data with earlier data from the older HyperFire 1 models. This does not apply to the Reconyx HF2X. Also, the HS2X and the HP2X can make longer videos and are equipped with an 'SD card management function', with which older images are automatically overwritten when the memory card becomes full. Finally, there are more physical adjustment possibilities for the Reconyx HS2X (think of an external power connection, external trigger, solar panel, zoom lens, etc.). Additional specifications of the Reconyx HS2X are:

The housing of the camera models from the Hyperfire 2 series is pretty much identical. The dark green housing is very robust and able to withstand extreme weather conditions. As with all other Reconyx models, there is a locking clip on the right side, which gives access to the camera's control panel. This is also where you enter the SDHC memory card and AA batteries. When using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, the cameratrap can last a staggering 16 months!

Reconyx HS2X HyperFire 2 | Recommended accessories
All camera traps are supplied without accessories. However, to get started with your cameratrap right away, you need at least a set of batteries and an SDHC memory card. For this model this is a standard SDHC memory card of at least Class 10, such as the Sandisk Ultra cards. Additionally, we recommend to use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (not rechargeable), or the Panasonic Eneloop and Eneloop PRO rechargeable NiMH batteries. The advantage of the lithium batteries over the rechargeable Eneloop batteries is that the former are more resistant to winter temperatures. The disadvantage however, is that they are non-rechargeable. If you choose rechargeable batteries, think of the Everactive 8-bank charger, in case you don't have a good battery charger in your house!
In addition to batteries and a memory card, there is a variety of other accessories available for this cameramodel. There are all kinds of special mounting materials such as tree forks and supports, but also accessories that ensure that the camera is placed more securely, such as a steel security enclosure or a python cable lock. You can select these accessories directly above and place your order as a bundle, but you can also view the complete overview of accessories here.
