Reconyx HP2W HyperFire 2 (Professional)
The Reconyx HP2W ('W' stands for 'White flash') is the professional model of the HyperFire 2 series introduced in 2018; and the successor of the Reconyx PC850. It is the most comprehensive and absolute top-of-the-line model equipped with a white LED flash. The HP2W is in terms of 'look' and 'feel' exactly the same as the HF2X (outdoor) and the HS2X (security camera). Yet the HP2W model is (together with the HP2X) the model with the most advanced settings. One important difference between the HyperFire 2 models is that the Reconyx HP2W is equipped with the same - and excellent working - motion sensor as the Reconyx HyperFire 1 models (e.g. HC600, PC900 and SC950), which makes it possible to compare obtained data with earlier data from the older HyperFire 1 models. This does not apply to the Reconyx HF2X. Also, the HP2W can make longer videos and are equipped with a 'SD card management functionality', with which older images are automatically overwritten when the memory card becomes full. Finally, there are more physical adjustment possible for the Reconyx HP2W (think of an external power connection, external trigger, solar panel, zoom lens etc.). Additional specifications of the Reconyx HP2W are:
- 'HF Legacy' setting
- Detection range of 24 meter
- Flash range of 30 meter
- 1080 Full HD or 3MP photo resolution
- 720p HD video resolution
- Dynamic video function
- Hybrid functionality (simultaneous photo- and videomode)
- Advanced time-lapse
Reconyx HP2W HyperFire 2 | Appearance
The housing of the camera models from the Hyperfire 2 series is pretty much identical. The dark green housing is very robust and able to withstand extreme weather conditions. As with all other Reconyx models, there is a locking clip on the right side, which gives access to the camera's control panel. This is also where you enter the SDHC memory card and AA batteries. When using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, the cameratrap can last a staggering 16 months!

Reconyx HP2W HyperFire 2 | Alternatives
The Reconyx HyperFire 2 models are the absolute top! Are you looking for a professional trail camera, but want to save some money? Have a look at the Reconyx HF2X and the HS2X HyperFire 2. Finally, there is also the Reconyx HP2X HyperFire 2 model. It is identical to the HP2W, but with an invisible infrared flash. This ensures minimal disturbance by both animals and humans, and therefore reduces the risk of theft or vandalism.

Reconyx HP2W HyperFire 2 | Recommended accessories
All camera traps are supplied without accessories. However, to get started with your cameratrap right away, you need at least a set of batteries and an SDHC memory card. For this model this is a standard SDHC memory card of at least Class 10, such as the Sandisk Ultra cards. Additionally, we recommend to use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (not rechargeable), or the Panasonic Eneloop and Eneloop PRO rechargeable NiMH batteries. The advantage of the lithium batteries over the rechargeable Eneloop batteries is that the former are more resistant to winter temperatures. The disadvantage however, is that they are non-rechargeable. If you choose rechargeable batteries, think of the Everactive 8-bank charger, in case you don't have a good battery charger in your house!
In addition to batteries and a memory card, there is a variety of other accessories available for this cameramodel. There are all kinds of special mounting materials such as tree forks and supports, but also accessories that ensure that the camera is placed more securely, such as a steel security enclosure or a python cable lock. You can select these accessories directly above and place your order as a bundle, but you can also view the complete overview of accessories here.
