Reconyx HL2X HyperFire 2 (License plate camera)

The Reconyx HL2X ("L" stands for "License plate") is a camera model from the HyperFire 2 series introduced in 2018 and the successor to the Reconyx HyperFire SM750. Due to the reflection of a license plate and the speed at which cars pass, it is often difficult to take clear photos or videos of a license plate with standard camera traps. The HL2X specializes in registering number plates. The camera model provides reliable and clear photos and videos of the license plate of a passing car. The fact that this camera trap ensures that the license plates remain legible makes it an extremely suitable model for security applications of, for example, entrance gates, remote areas or access roads to closed (private) areas. The Reconyx HL2X License plate camera is equipped with an 'SD card management function', with which older images are automatically overwritten when the memory card becomes full. You do not have to empty the SD card every time, but you can safely leave the camera somewhere for a long time and only retrieve the images when there is reason to do so. Reconyx HL2X HyperFire 2 | Appearance

The housing of the camera models from the Hyperfire 2 series is pretty much identical. The dark green housing is very robust and able to withstand extreme weather conditions. As with all other Reconyx models, there is a locking clip on the right side, which gives access to the camera's control panel. This is also where you enter the SDHC memory card and AA batteries. When using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, the cameratrap can last a staggering 16 months!

Reconyx HL2X HyperFire 2 | Recommended accessories

All camera traps are supplied without accessories. However, to get started with your cameratrap right away, you need at least a set of batteries and an SDHC memory card. For this model this is a standard SDHC memory card of at least Class 10, such as the Sandisk Ultra cards. Additionally, we recommend to use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (not rechargeable), or the Panasonic Eneloop and Eneloop PRO rechargeable NiMH batteries. The advantage of the lithium batteries over the rechargeable Eneloop batteries is that the former are more resistant to winter temperatures. The disadvantage however, is that they are non-rechargeable. If you choose rechargeable batteries, think of the Everactive 8-bank charger, in case you don't have a good battery charger in your house!

In addition to batteries and a memory card, there is a variety of other accessories available for this cameramodel.
