The Hydromoth can also be used as an AudioMoth, only then you must place the HydroMoth in the normal IPX7 waterproof housing for AudioMoth. The underwater housing cannot be used above water.

The Hydromoth hardware is directly compatible with all AudioMoth firmware and uses the same hardware as the AudioMoth. It's specially designed for optimal use in the underwater housing, with (i) relocated LEDs for better visibility, (ii) a more accurate 32.768 kHzMEMS oscilator to get the time more precise during long deployments of the HydroMoth and (iii) the same magnetic start button, so you can stop recording without opening the housing!
The underwater housing is a transparent plastic box that fits both the AudioMoth and HydroMoth! This allows them to be placed completely underwater without compromising performance. During the tests it could last at least 2 months at a depth of 30 metres. We supply this underwater case as a separate accessory!
The HydroMoth is identical to AudioMoth in terms of its audio capabilities. HydroMoth has a more accurate oscillator with temperature compensation for better timing, and also a built-in reed switch for activating recordings from outside the housing. The HydroMoth has no GPIO pads or external microphone pads, as it is intended for use in an underwater housing.
If you would like to use the HydroMoth as an AudioMoth, you will need to swap the underwater housing for the standard housing with an acoustic valve to use it for recording on land! You can order these here.
