Supplementary lenses for close-up shots

All you need is a pair of reading glasses from the local chemist's and a bit of poster adhesive eraser. Reading glasses adjust the focusing distance of the camera. Which strength you need exactly, depends a bit on the lens in the camera, but usually a pair of reading glasses of +2 will adjust the focus distance to about 50 cm, and a pair of reading glasses of +3 will adjust the focus distance to about 33 cm (if you divide 100 by the strength of the reading glasses, you get the focus distance in centimetres). You then use the adhesive eraser to stick the reading glasses neatly and watertight in front of the lens of the game camera. This prevents moisture and dirt from getting between the reading glasses and the lens of the camera and also prevents it from becoming a nice nesting place for spiders! Once you have done that, point the camera, for example, at a bowl of peanuts or other animal food to lure them right in front of the lens and success is guaranteed!
