This time a more product-oriented solution to a practical problem: the WMS SD card reader. A handy little accessory that turns practically any mobile device into a colour viewer.
Many people place camera traps somewhere in the forest or field, far away from the computer. When visiting the camera, it can be very nice to have a quick look at what the camera has observed, and whether the placement of the camera is optimal before leaving the location again. For this reason, some cameras have a built-in colour viewer, on which the images can be immediately viewed, but many do not. In addition, the viewers inside the cameras are often quite small, and therefore it is sometimes very difficult to see what the camera has actually captured.
This is where the WMS SD Card Reader comes in handy. This card reader is super compact and therefore easy to take with you. It has 4 different connection ports, so that you can connect practically any device. There is a standard USB connector for connecting to the computer or laptop, a micro-USB connection for the older Android devices, a USB-C connection for the newer Android and Apple devices, and a Lightning connection for the older Apple devices. Moreover, the card reader has a slot for regular SD memory cards and for Micro SD memory cards! This way, you can easily turn your phone or tablet into a large colour viewer in the field and immediately review the images you have taken.
For use with Apple devices, it is necessary to install a small free app on your device (Apple is rather limited in connecting non-Apple devices just like that), but this is easy to download from the app store. Android users do not need to download anything at all and can plug the card reader into their device. After connecting the card reader to your device, you can not only easily view the photos and videos you have taken, but it also gives you the opportunity to quickly share images with friends or family via Whatsapp or other apps. This way, you can also easily transfer the images to your device, so that the memory card can be emptied immediately and put back into the camera.
All in all, a simple, but very versatile "Solution" for viewing images in the field!
