Browning 2023 Dark Ops Pro X 1080
The Browning Dark Ops Pro X 1080 is the successor to the popular Browning 2019 Dark Ops HD PRO X. The 2019 Dark Ops Pro X is, alongside its countermodel, the 2019 Strike Force Pro X, the model most commonly used camera in combination with the Struikrover. This is precisely why we have extensively tested the new Pro X 1080 models in the Struikrover in collaboration with Matthijs Smaal. Fortunately, with this, a worthy successor was born, as the new Strike Force Pro X 1080 and the new Dark Ops Pro X 1080 perform excellently in the Struikrover! The Browning 2023 Dark Ops Pro X 1080 has a very fast reaction and recovery time, a high image resolution, a built-in colour viewer, and an integrated mounting bracket. And all that for a very competitive price!

And all that for a very competitive price! The trail camera is equipped with a completely invisible infrared flash, which makes this model the most suitable choice in places where theft or vandalism is a realistic threat. Also, for minimizing the risk of disturbance of passing animals, the invisible IR flash may be a good choice. One should realise, though, that cameras with an invisible infrared flash always produce a slightly lower quality nighttime footage as compared to a similar model with visible IR flash. Visible IR gives the images just a little better exposure and a slightly longer flash range than invisible IR flash. Additional specifications of the Browning Dark Ops Pro X 1080 are:
- Detection range of more than 30 meters (adjustable)
- Flash range of over 27 meters (adjustable)
- Maximum photo resolution of 24MP (interpolated)
- 1080p FULL HD video resolution (30 fps)
- Dynamic video function (Smart IR Video)
- Time-lapse function (only during daylight hours)
- Multilingual user interface, including English, Dutch, and German
- Capture timer, with which you can set a custom time frame to capture events
Browning 2023 Dark Ops Pro X 1080 | Appearance
The Browning Dark Ops Pro X 1080 has a camouflage print housing with an integrated mounting bracket on the back, allowing you to easily aim the wildlife camera while positioning it. The wildlife camera features a latch on the lower half of the front where settings should be entered. The 1.5-inch internal color viewer allows you to see live what the wildlife camera is observing (very useful when positioning the camera in the field) and view captured images directly in the field. The AA batteries go into a special battery compartment, which is pushed into the bottom of the cameratrap. When using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, the camera can last an astounding 27 months (assuming an average of 70 photos per day)!

The Spec Ops Elite HP5 also has a slightly larger format built-in viewer, for aiming the camera while positioning or looking back at images in the field.

Browning 2023 Dark Ops Pro X 1080 | Recommended accessories
All camera traps are supplied with a nylon strap but without any further accessories. To get started with your camera trap right away, you need at least a set of batteries and an SD memory card. For this model, this is a standard SDHC or SDXC memory card of at least Class 10, such as the Sandisk Ultra cards. The maximum storage capacity for this camera is 512GB. In terms of batteries, we recommend to use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (not rechargeable), or the Panasonic Eneloop or Eneloop PRO rechargeable NiMH batteries. The advantage of the lithium batteries over the rechargeable Eneloop batteries is that the former are more resistant to winter temperatures. The disadvantage, however, is that they are non-rechargeable. If you choose rechargeable batteries, don't forget to consider adding the Everactive battery charger, in case you don't have a good battery charger in your house!
In addition to batteries and a memory card, there is a variety of other accessories available for this camera model. There are all kinds of special mounting materials such as tree forks and supports, but also accessories that ensure that the camera is placed more securely, such as a security enclosure or a python cable lock. You can select these accessories directly above and place your order as a bundle, but you can also view the complete overview of accessories here.

|Other noteworthy specifications||
This camera has different shooting modes in photo mode: in "multi-shot", the camera can take 1-8 photos per trigger with 2 seconds between each photo, while in "Rapid Fire" mode, it can also take 1-8 photos in one trigger, but with only 0.3 seconds between each photo. Furthermore, this camera has the so-called Smart IR Video functionality. This function means that the camera keeps filming as long as motion is detected in front of the camera. So even if the video length is set to 20 seconds, for example, the camera continues filming after those 20 seconds until the animal has disappeared from view, or until a total of 5 consecutive minutes of filming has been completed (in daylight only). Furthermore, this new model also has the so-called SD Overwrite function, which means that it can automatically delete the oldest footage if the memory card threatens to become full.
